Not every salvage yard has something like this, but most salvage yards aren't by a major air force base. |
I was startled to see so many jets lined up at the Mojave Airport. |
There were many Continental jets. With so many parked planes, I wondered if this airport might be a storage place for excess capacity. I know there is such a place in the Arizona desert. |
Of course Mojave's welcome sign had to have the 20 mule team and the train (since the mules were driven to the railhead here). Mojave is also " birthplace of the Voyager," which I learned about later. |
This old jet by the side of SR 58 wasn't going anywhere. |
Primo's Coffee Bar & Grill  was conveniently located across the street from my motel, so I ate there several times during my stay in Mojave. |
The first thing that struck me about this was that it didn't seem like a good idea to sell ammo and liquor together. My next thought was that it was unusual to call a place a " jr. market" rather than a mini-mart. Then I realized that perhaps what makes the Best Motel indeed the best is its proximity to the liquor store! |
