Mojave Photos, Part I

Not every salvage yard has something like this, but most salvage yards aren't by a major air force base.

I was startled to see so many jets lined up at the Mojave Airport.

There were many Continental jets. With so many parked planes, I wondered if this airport might be a storage place for excess capacity. I know there is such a place in the Arizona desert.

Of course Mojave's welcome sign had to have the 20 mule team and the train (since the mules were driven to the railhead here). Mojave is also " birthplace of the Voyager," which I learned about later.

This old jet by the side of SR 58 wasn't going anywhere.

Primo's Coffee Bar & Grill  was conveniently located across the street from my motel, so I ate there several times during my stay in Mojave.

The first thing that struck me about this was that it didn't seem like a good idea to sell ammo and liquor together. My next thought was that it was unusual to call a place a " jr. market" rather than a mini-mart. Then I realized that perhaps what makes the Best Motel indeed the best is its proximity to the liquor store!
