Anson, TX Photos

The centerpiece of Anson was the Jones County Courthouse, built in 1910.

This closeup shows the statue of Lady Justice  at the top.

The setting sun brought out the colors of the brick and Pecos red sandstone  on the west side of the courthouse.

The town and the county were named for Anson Jones, the last President of the Republic of Texas.

The Opera House was another architectural treasure on the courthouse square.

The Palace Theatre was in dire need of restoration.

I spent the night at the Morning Star Inn.
