Roswell, NM Photos, Part IV

Covey's Guns was one shop that didn't use an alien theme. The dog on the right made a lot of noise when I took this picture.

Cows and aliens, Roswell's claims to fame.

The Chaves County Courthouse was the centerpiece of Roswell. A man thoughtfully stopped his pick-up truck so I could take an unobstructed picture.

Here's another view of the courthouse.

This photo shows details of the distinctive green dome.

This big gun in front of the courthouse was donated by the V.F.W. in 1959 in  memory of the New Mexico 200th Coast Artillery A A Regiment's service in World War II.

A monument of the Ten Commandments, presented in 1973 by the Eagles,  was also on the courthouse lawn.

The City of Roswell chose to promote the courthouse rather than aliens on their welcome banners.
