Elvis made his national broadcast  debut on Shreveport's " Louisiana Hayride" radio program in 1954. Shreveport named a street after him on what would have been his 66th birthday: January 8, 2001. Amazingly, a city must be  " given  permission by  Graceland" to name a street for Elvis. Funny, I thought it was an honor for a city to offer.  At that time, Memphis was the only other city allowed to use his name for  a street (Graceland is on Elvis Presley Blvd. there) |
