Breckenridge Photos, Part I

Breckenridge's big theme was " Howdy" --not only was it on murals, but it was also on placards in storefront windows.

This mural recalled Breckenridge's oil boomtown days.

One man painted all of the murals. This one was on the side of a car dealer's showroom.

This was how Breckenridge looked in 1923.

High school football is a big deal in Texas. The Breckenridge Buckaroos were quite a team in the 1950's.

When Breckenridge was booming, they tore down the 43-year-old Stephens County Courthouse and built a new one. Judging from this preserved entryway, I would have liked the old one better.

Howdy again. This mural masked a vacant lot.
