I finally made it to Needles, California. I didn't eat at the Wagon Wheel, but it looked like my kind of place.

The Chevron station windows were decorated with Route 66 shields.

The Best Chalet Inn was home for my first night in California.

This was my artistic photo for the day, the door of the Best Chalet Inn reflecting the rooms across the courtyard. Notice the anti-smoker sentiments:

" I shoot every 3rd smoker and the 2nd one just left!!"
" Don't even think about smoking in here!"
" Warning: If you are smoking when you come in here, you damn well better be on fire!!"

Just in case the owner's other statements weren't enough, a sign citing the State of  California was posted as well.
