I didn't know the purpose of  these fence-like barricades.

I thought maybe they were to break the wind or to catch snow before it drifted across the highway.

This sign labeling the pine bunch grass also marked the highest elevation of my trip, 9,120 feet.

It was too early in the year for this alpine meadow to be anything but brown.

Yes, that is snow on the north face of this little dell. I didn't see much snow on my trip, but that was because I took a southerly route. Passes this high in Colorado or Wyoming were probably still snowy at this time (April).

The Apache Spring Shipping Corrals in the background were at the edge of the White Mountain Apache Reservation.
