I bought this hybrid bicycle as a close-out in April 2000. I had wanted a Cannondale bicycle for years. Those fat aluminum tubes looked so much more impressive than the skinny steel tubes on other bikes. When I picked it out, I intended to ride it for cross-training and to build my quads with the intent of running an ultra-marathon. Alas, by the time I took delivery, a knee injury had thwarted my aspirations and derailed my running in general. I started to ride the Cannondale with rehabilitation in mind, but it didn't hurt my knee at all so I just kept riding more and more.
My Cannondale took me on six centuries in 2000, plus many other shorter rides. However, its crowning achievement was carrying me along the Grand Illinois Trail in a series of day trips and tours. I became one of the first sixteen riders to complete the route, earning a Trailblazer award. I rode more than 2,000 miles that year.
Once it became clear that cycling was more than a passing fancy, I bought more bikes. This was the Cannondale's demise. I still have it, but it hasn't been ridden more than 100 miles (total) since Spring 2001.
